I started practicing bodywork around 30 years ago, (at age 24) .
First I trained in Hellerwork (structural integration working with fascia), after I had experienced deep healing myself from receiving it. Then, around 10 years ago I trained in Craniosacral therapy here in NZ.
Craniosacral therapy comes from Osteopathy, originally from Dr William Garner Sutherland - and then later James Jealous gave us the biodynamic approach, which is the way in which I work.
I recently did some more training, in Amsterdam, with the Touch of Presence School for Biodynamic studies.
I have also been practicing yoga for over 10 years, and am a certified 300 hr YTT Yoga Teacher, with the Heart of Yoga foundation.
I am constantly learning, unlearning, and relearning about what it is to live in this body, in this world, in this life - in relationship with everybody and everything around me - and how to navigate my/our way with as much love, grace, and health as I/we can.
It seems to me it is a lifetime’s journey - and I feel profoundly grateful to be here, now, in this life - and in relationship with my practices - that continue to inform and move me everyday - and help connect me to the essence and wholeness of things.
I find myself these days being more and more drawn to stillness, and silence - to the spaces in between. There is so much information out there, constantly being offered to us - to help us improve, better ourselves, get our heads around, become more, heal, etc - and doing these things doesn’t always make me ‘feel’ better - so I find myself moving inwards - sensing something that is already there - that feels real and tangible - and feels like something I can trust.
I believe that deepening into stillness and rest over time is a way that inherent restorative states can be accessed.
The practices that I do, that I find help me attune to this space , are the hands on therapeutic presence and touch of another human - and also my breathing and moving practice (Yoga)
